Room to Read is a global non-profit organisation working to transform the lives of millions of children throughout Asia and Africa by improving literacy and gender equality in education.

Worldwide 250 million children, almost 40% of all primary school-age children, are not learning basic skills like reading and writing. The world’s poorest children are also four times less likely to be in primary school, as compared to those in world’s richest countries.

We believe that all children, regardless of gender or background, have a right to education.

Room to Read is recognised as one of the most effective and fiscally responsible organisations in global education. Our commitment to full transparency, combined with consistent monitoring of our impact, assures our investors that their funding is achieving real, measurable impact, so that millions of children may benefit from our work.

We rely on a global network of dedicated investors and business partners, as well as a team talented, passionate individual from our volunteer fundraising Chapters who not only raise funds for us but also demonstrate creativity in using their adventurous spirit to support our work. Thank you Atlassian

Atlassian is a collaboration software company that helps teams organize, discuss and complete shared work. Teams at more than 60,000 large and small organizations use Atlassian's project tracking, content creation and sharing, real-time communication and service management products to work better together and deliver quality results on time.

Atlassian chose to bake corporate philanthropy into its business model more than 14 years ago, committing to donate 1% of equity, 1% of product, 1% of profit and 1% of employee time to charitable causes.

Causium Model
Atlassian began supporting Room to Read through a Causium model – a unique spin on the Freemium model, through which companies donate proceeds from a proprietary product to charity. Through this model, Atlassian sold 'starter licenses' of its software products for $10 per month for teams of up to 10 users, with the money going directly to Room to Read.

$1 A Day Campaign
In 2015, the company launched a “Dollar a Day” campaign, encouraging employees to donate $1 per day – enough to support 3 girls in the Girls’ Education Program for one year. Nearly half of Atlassian’s more than 1,600 employees worldwide participate!

Atlassian’s Impact
Through their pledge 1% commitment, their Causium model and employee donations, Atlassian has raised over $5 million for Room to Read since our partnership began in 2009. In 2015 and 2016, they were also the largest investor in our Girls’ Education Program in Cambodia, and our largest corporate investor globally.
