On May 12, Room to Read held its annual New York Gala – the first reconvening of the event since the COVID-19 pandemic began. The evening brought together top names from the business, entertainment and media industries to celebrate education as the great equalizer - raising funds to benefit 115,000 children through Room to Read’s programs that support literacy and girls’ education.
Lilly Singh, actor, producer, author and creator was presented with Room to Read’s Superhero Award. Room to Read’s Champion Awards honorees were Tatcha, the luxury skincare brand and IMC, a global technology-driven trading firm. The evening culminated in a headline performance from Flo Rida, and featured performances by a capella group Penn Masala and a step routine by members of the Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity ® earlier in the evening.
